About this checkup
A yearly baseline of six panels from one blood draw: the liver, the kidneys, the lipids, the thyroid, a fasting sugar and calcium. Thirty numbers that together describe how the organs doing the quiet work are coping.
Most of what these panels find causes no symptoms for years. A raised fasting sugar, a creeping creatinine, an SGPT that has drifted up with a fatty liver, an underactive thyroid behind months of tiredness — each is easier to correct the earlier it is seen, and none of them announces itself.
The sample is collected at home after a 10 hour fast. Book a morning slot and the phlebotomist comes before breakfast.
Who it is for
Adults over 25 taking a yearly check with no particular complaint. Anyone with a family history of diabetes, heart disease or thyroid trouble. People whose work is sedentary, who eat out often, or who have gained weight over a few years. It is also the panel to start with when tiredness, weight change or poor sleep has no obvious explanation.
How often to repeat it
Once a year for a healthy adult. Every six months once a result has come back borderline and your doctor wants to watch it, and more often than that only if a specific value is being treated.

How to prepare
- Fast for 10 to 12 hours before the sample. Water is fine, and encouraged.
- Book a morning slot so the fast ends with breakfast instead of lunch.
- Take your regular medicines as usual unless your doctor has said otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand; it moves the liver enzymes and the triglycerides.
- Skip heavy exercise the evening before, which can raise SGOT.
What it does not look at
There is no blood count, HbA1c or urine test in the Basic checkup, so anaemia, three-month sugar control and early kidney protein loss are outside it. The Complete checkup adds all three. Vitamin D and B12 are in the Advanced checkup and above.
Why take it
- Diabetes shows in the blood first: A fasting sugar climbs into the prediabetic range years before thirst, weight loss or any other symptom appears.
- Fatty liver is common and quiet: A raised SGPT is often the only sign, and it is reversible at the stage a blood test finds it.
- Thyroid explains a lot of tiredness: An underactive thyroid causes fatigue, weight gain, hair fall and feeling cold, and is treated with a single daily tablet.
- Kidneys stay silent until late: Creatinine and urea start to move while more than half the filtering capacity is still working.
- Cholesterol is a number and not a feeling: The lipid profile is the only way to know it, and it decides how aggressively blood pressure and sugar need managing.
Questions about IHC Basic Health Checkup
Do I need to fast for this checkup?
Yes, 10 to 12 hours. The fasting sugar, the lipid profile and the liver panel all read differently after a meal. Water is fine throughout and worth drinking, since it makes the draw easier.
What is the difference between the Basic and the Advanced checkup?
The Advanced checkup is this one plus vitamin D and vitamin B12. Those two deficiencies are behind a large share of the tiredness, low mood and body aches people come in with, and neither is visible in any of the six Basic panels.
Will this tell me if I am diabetic?
It measures a fasting glucose, which is enough to place you in the normal, prediabetic or diabetic range on one morning. It does not include HbA1c, which averages the last three months and is what a diagnosis is usually confirmed on. The Complete checkup includes it.
How do I get the report, and what if something is out of range?
The report reaches you on WhatsApp and email within 8 hours, with every value printed beside the reference range in force when the sample was taken. Out-of-range values are flagged and explained in plain language, so you can see what moved before you speak to a doctor.
Can I book this for my parents at a different address?
Yes. Each person is booked as their own profile with their own address and slot, and the reports are filed under that person, not under the account that paid.
